About Dr. kelley

Who I am

In all my relationships, including and especially with my clients in therapy, I seek to operate from a place of curiosity and compassion. As vulnerable and painful as it can be to dismantle old patterns, it is even more rewarding to see clients establish new, more functional ways of being (relationally, emotionally, cognitively, physically, and spiritually).

I come to therapy both as a provider and an educator. I hold an LMFT license (Temp TN #2150, under supervision) in the state of Tennessee and I serve as Program Co-Director and Assistant Professor in Lipscomb University’s Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program. I am also an AAMFT approved supervisor. I am passionate about the work of therapy and see it as a gift to do this work alongside my clients in all of their wonderfully resilient and complex humanity.

how i work

My goal in therapy is to provide a safe space to collaborate and walk alongside clients as they seek to heal, grow, and change into more of the person they want to be. I believe change happens in the context of relationships and I work with individuals, couples, and families through their journeys of healing. I actively seek to attend to power, oppression, and marginalization in the therapy space, taking into account how the larger systems of which we are a part impact mental health and the therapy process.

I respect my clients’ voices and believe their experiences. My approach to therapy is grounded in a trauma-informed perspective, and I am trained in multiple evidence-based PTSD treatments. My therapeutic approach also includes an integration of Restoration therapy and Narrative therapy, and is further informed by family systems theory, common factors, attachment theory, and body based modalities, as well as other research- and evidence-based practices.

I have experience working with clients struggling with trauma/traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, and those questioning their religion, faith, and/or spirituality. I work with folks of all gender, sexuality, and relationship presentations. I see clients both in person and via telehealth; all of my clients must be located in the state of Tennessee.
